EUDR Ready: Navigating FSC & PEFC standards for a deforestation-free supply chain
Join us for an in-depth webinar to explore the latest tools and practical strategies for compliance with the EUDR. Tailored for organisations and businesses in Estonia, the event will focus on how FSC and PEFC systems can support businesses in Estonia in meeting the EUDR requirements, with expert insights from key stakeholders and industry leaders. As the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) comes into effect on 30 December 2024, organisations must be ready to meet its stringent demands. The regulation applies to companies placing specific commodities and products on or exporting them from the EU market.Operators, responsible for placing products on the EU market for the first time, must submit a due diligence statement confirming the legality of their goods. Although traders are not required to submit these statements, they remain responsible for ensuring the compliance of the products they commercialise. The EUDR targets seven key commodities, including timber, rubber, soy, palm oil, coffee, cocoa, and cattle, requiring proof that these products are deforestation-free and legally harvested. Both the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) and Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) have introduced their approach and tools to support organisations to meet the EUDR requirements. The FSC Regulatory Module offers a framework for due diligence, risk mitigation, and traceability, ensuring alignment with EUDR regulations. Similarly, the PEFC EUDR Due Diligence System (DDS) provides PEFC-certified organisations with step-by-step guidance to meet EUDR requirements through traceability and risk assessment measures. This webinar will cover both systems in detail, offering a practical guide for Estonian organisations aiming to comply with EUDR. Participants will learn how to gather supply chain data, conduct risk assessments, and ensure traceability. In addition, a representative from Estonia’s Climate Ministry will provide an up-to-date overview of EUDR and demonstrate relevant databases to support compliance.PresentersKersti Kuum, Preferred by Nature, Supply Chain SpecialistEveli Pind, Preferred by Nature, Senior System Specialist, Supply ChainsRauno Reinberg, Ministry of Climate, Forest Department AdviserHando Hain, Director, Strategy and Innovations  Who should attend? This webinar is designed for Estonian organisations involved in commodity import and processing, particularly those in the timber sector. It is also relevant to companies that are certified under FSC or PEFC, or those seeking certification.
