Webinar Announcement: “Paris Agreement Article 6 and Cooking Transitions”
Registration is now open to join our upcoming webinar “Paris Agreement Article 6 and Cooking Transitions”. This event is organised by MECS programme and will be held on Wednesday 30th of October 2024, at 13.00-14.30 (GMT).Webinar Background:The Article 6 mechanisms of the Paris Agreement are the major UNFCCC instruments which Individual countries and the wider stakeholders can use to develop carbon and climate financing activities to fulfill their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) on greenhouse gas emission reductions and removals, as well as for different climate change mitigation purposes to meet the goals of well below 2 to 1.5°C.Article 6.4 Supervisory Body (SB) is developing its governance structure, methodologies, standards and procedures which can be used to develop, accredit and register activities generating mitigation credits. Its operation will setup a credible compliance level structure which is expected to result in ambitious NDCs and other impacts. Countries and participants can opt to use the Article 6.4 instruments to operationalise the flexible Article 6.2 approach for International Transfer of Mitigation Outcomes (ITMOs) and contributions which is expected to scale-up financing for cooking transitions. The decisions for the operation and/or further work on Article 6.4 mechanism is expected at COP29.The purpose of this Webinar is (a) to stimulate discussion on the current state of play with Article 6.2 and how different stakeholders are currently accessing carbon finance for cooking (or seeking to do so) and (b) outline the expectations if Article 6.4 framework is agreed and its implementation is underway and how it might change the current dynamics (e.g. what impacts over what timescale). The session will outline the key issues that are important to consider such as (i) cooking methodologies, (ii) distribution of benefits, and (iii) fraction of non-renewable biomass.Agenda:13. 00 – 13.10: Welcome & Introduction (Alicia Butterfield, GeCCo Global Manager, Modern Energy Cooking Services)13.10 – 13. 25: Context and Overview (Samir Thapa, Research Associate, Modern Energy Cooking Services)13. 25 – 14. 25: Panel Discussion, moderated by (Elisa Derby, Senior Director, Clean Cooking Alliance), panellists include:1- Dechen Pema Yangki, Executive Engineer, Ministry of Energy, Bhutan.2- El Hadji Mbaye Diagne, Member, Article 6.4 Supervisory Body & Chair, Methodological Expert Panel, UNFCCC.3- Mitch Sauers, Chief Executive Officer/UpEnergy, Project Developers Forum.4- James Haselip, Senior Advisor, United Nations Environment Program – Copenhagen Climate Centre. 14. 25 -14. 30: Closing remarks (Alicia Butterfield).

Food Safety: Hazard control and measures for preventing cross-contamination
Preventing cross-contamination is an important part of any Food Control Plan. Sources of cross-contamination has always been identified during the hazard analysis and control measures are put in place to prevent the cross-contamination of a food. This additional requirement however now requires that a risk analysis shall be used to identify the need for foreign body detection equipment. Join us as we have a look at how we go about determining the need for detection equipment.NOTE: You will be given the opportunity to ask questions and clarify specific concerns with regards to topics presented.
