Industry > Energy webinar by UKERC for Mapping Participation for Democratic Innovations: An experiment in evaluating a citizens’ panel on home energy decarbonisation
Mapping Participation for Democratic Innovations: An experiment in evaluating a citizens’ panel on home energy decarbonisation
Through a series of collaborative experiments with partners, the UK Energy Research Centre’s (UKERC) Public Engagement Observatory is actively exploring how new approaches to mapping diverse forms of public engagement across systems can make a difference in practice to energy and climate-related decisions, innovations and new forms of participation. In this webinar, the Observatory team will present the findings of one such experiment that explored how the Observatory’s approach might contribute to a Citizens’ Panel on Home Energy Decarbonisation. They will then consider implications for future research and practice of deliberation, citizens’ assemblies and other forms of participation. This will be followed by a panel discussion involving reflections from the organisers (the Climate Citizens project and the Climate Change Committee) and facilitators (Shared Future) of this specific deliberative process, before opening up to wider audience questions and answers. Webinar organised by the UK Energy Research Centre (UKERC). Find out more about the UKERC Public Engagement Observatory: https://ukerc.ac.uk/research/observatory/

Research webinar by MIS software for Monitoring and Evaluation and Reporting for Identifying and managing bias in data analysis and interpretation
Identifying and managing bias in data analysis and interpretation
There are different types of bias that can affect the work of a MEAL/IM professional working with data. Being aware and alert can help us overcome them and avoid serious flaws in our data analysis and interpretation. During this webinar, we will go over the concept of bias and how it is linked to our work in M&E. We will also discuss ways to manage cases of bias so as to mitigate the risks. In summary, we explore: What is bias? What are the different types of biases? Why is the identification of bias important? How does bias affect data analysis and interpretation? How is bias associated with monitoring, evaluation and learning? How can we manage bias and mitigate the risks? There will also be a Q&A session.

Environment > Climate Change webinar by Ecosystem for Peace for Not reinventing the wheel: What lessons can climate funds learn from development and peacebuilding actors?
Not reinventing the wheel: What lessons can climate funds learn from development and peacebuilding actors?
Access to climate finance is essential for a just and peaceful transition. Of countries most vulnerable to climate change, more than half are also impacted by conflict. Research shows that a very small percentage of climate finance are reaching those conflict affected and fragile states. Even within fragile states, climate finance is more likely to be spent in less fragile areas and often does not reach marginalised groups. Climate finance offers opportunities to increase resilience, reverse environmental decline and build peace. However for climate finance to support peace, it must be sufficient, reach fragile and conflict-affected states and fund projects that are conflict-sensitive and peace-positive. At the moment, it does not. Barriers such as donor risk appetite, state capacity, project compliance and bureaucratic process hinder progress in this space. While there is an increasing awareness within multilateral development banks, climate funds and national governments of these challenges, they are often approached as novel. Yet much can be learnt from the experience of the peacebuilding and development community about managing risk and designing and implementing projects in fragile settings. This panel seeks to discuss what climate funds can learn from development and peacebuilding communities as well as how they can better work together in conflict and fragile affected states to deliver effective climate finance. Speakers: - Diane Myriam A Sheinberg, Peacebuilding Fund Programme Manager, UN- Chris Hodder, Climate Security and Environmental Advisor to Somalia, UNSOM- Karen Meijer, Senior Researcher, Climate Change and Risk Programme, SIPRI- Dethie S. Ndiaye, Country Representative, Burkina Faso Country Office/ Représentant-Résident, Bureau Burkina Faso - Global Green Planning & Implementation – GGP&I- Pia van Ackern, Policy Officer Climate, Peace and Security - German MFA Moderator: Claire McAllister, SIPRIThis webinar is an installment in the series, The Peace Piece: Primers for Peace at COP28, an online briefing series designed to inform policymakers, researchers, and practitioners about opportunities for peace at COP28. Business > Human Resources webinar by Australian Institute of Training and Development (AITD) for Creating Culture through Compliance
Creating Culture through Compliance
Creating a Learning Culture is something that we all hear about and strive for, but often feel shackled by the enormity of it. Where to start? Isn’t culture something that’s designed by external consultants who get paid a crazy amount of money to write a white paper and then leave? How do we move the needle? Well – it could be that the one part where you can make the most change and shift the dial the most is in the place where all employees dread - the mandatory learning or “compliance” space. Even the word compliance hurts your soul. But it doesn’t have to be that way. By reimagining what words like compliance, mandatory, refreshers and tests could mean – you can get a twofer – kickstarting your new and improved learning culture through the learning that everyone has to do every year – COMPLIANCE.
