Wellness webinar by Badger Talks for Wellness Talks - Mindfulness, Stress and Social Connection
Wellness Talks - Mindfulness, Stress and Social Connection
In challenging times, stress and anxiety can become overwhelming, especially when combined with decreased social connection. Research on mindfulness, however, tells us that we already have the resources and fundamental capacities to transform the kind of toxic stress that we may be facing, and we can do so in part by developing a different relationship with the kinds of thoughts that produce negative stress. In this talk, we learn about how certain forms of stress arise from our thoughts, and how simple mindfulness practices can prove helpful. We will also examine the relationship between social connectivity and our ability to manage stress, and how the style of awareness cultivated through mindfulness practices can enhance our sense of social connection.

Healthcare webinar by The University of Manchester for The 695th Lord Mayor's Lectures: Computational Medicine and Digital Twins Improving Medical Care
The 695th Lord Mayor's Lectures: Computational Medicine and Digital Twins Improving Medical Care
Novel medical technologies are being introduced at unprecedented rates, demanding scientific evidence of their safety and efficacy at an unprecedented pace to ensure patient safety and benefit. With success in both in-vitro/in-vivo studies, products are tested on clinical trials assessing use in humans. Predicting low-frequency side effects has been difficult because such side effects may not become apparent until many patients adopt the treatment. When medical devices fail at later stages, financial losses can be catastrophic. Testing on many people is costly, lengthy, and sometimes implausible (e.g., paediatric patients, rare diseases, and underrepresented or hard-to-reach ethnic groups).

Healthcare webinar by Caron Drug and Alcohol Addiction Treatment Centers for Long Term Anxiety in Families with Substance Use Disorder
Long Term Anxiety in Families with Substance Use Disorder
One of the most difficult experiences of dealing with addiction in your family is dealing with your own anxiety. We know that anxiety flows through systems like electricity flows through a circuit. It’s contagious, free floating, and it has to land somewhere. If we can work on befriending our own anxiety and regulating our own nervous system, then we put “circuit breakers” into the family system and we invite that in our family members as well. We truly do have power in our family systems just not the way we may have thought. Learning how to be in a healthier relationship to our own anxiety is perhaps the most important things that we can do for our whole families recovery. Who Should Attend this Program? Any family member who has been impacted by a loved one’s substance use disorder will benefit from participating in this webinar. Please note: if you cannot attend the webinar live, please register to receive the recording. Also, this event is Eastern Standard Time.
