The power of profit: How social enterprises promote sustainability and independence of HIV organizations led by key populations
Social enterprises — such as restaurants, salons, health clinics, and online retail shops — offer key population led organizations a pathway to sustainability, innovation, and inclusion while addressing financial concerns by diversifying revenue models. Originally presented as a satellite session at the 2024 International AIDS Conference in Munich, Germany, this webinar brings the discussion to a wider audience. Two civil society leaders who have transitioned into social entrepreneurs will share their start-up journeys, and highlight surprising impacts beyond revenue, including innovations in HIV care and treatment, new private sector partnerships, and increased inclusion and economic and social justice for LGBTQ+ people.
