Description

Despite being a stable, mission-oriented industry offering accessible family-sustaining jobs with opportunities for wealth-building, many utilities face a current workforce quantity and quality crisis. A massive wave of retirements is leaving critical jobs unfilled, and irreplaceable know-how is at risk of being lost rather than transferred to the next generation of workers. One Water leaders understand that addressing the water workforce crisis is an imperative and best achieved through approaches that also seek to close wealth gaps, advance equity, and contribute to broader community goals.

This webinar will explore the roles One Water leadership, DEI up-skilling, workforce partnerships for equity and wealth building, and “earn and learn” designs play in forging a stronger, more equitable water workforce. Join the US Water Alliance for a conversation about effective models for workforce development, like the Fresh Coast Ambassador Program and the St. Paul’s Right Track Program as well as partnerships with community colleges. Along the way, get insight and key takeaways about opportunities and what it means to personally invest in your ability to lead on complex water challenges and cultivate the leadership capacities of others to do the same.

Moderator: Michael Mucha, Senior Fellow, US Water Alliance

Speakers: Racquel Vaske, General Manager, Saint Paul Regional Water Services; August Ball, CEO and Founder, Cream City Conservation.
