Brachytherapy is an integral and irreplaceable treatment for patients with many types of gynecologic cancers. While this treatment is well established and supported in the literature and best practices, resources for nurses and teams have been severely limited and have only recently started to be created. This 90 minute webinar is given from the perspective of a physician and a nurse that specialize in brachytherapy, with an in-depth focus on nursing care for patients receiving gynecologic brachytherapy. Other areas of brachytherapy will also be explored, such as critical factors in coordinating treatment schedules, bedside care during procedures, pain management and anesthesia considerations, and advice for nurses to train not only their patients but other nurses, team members and healthcare professionals throughout their facility for maximum success. Brachytherapy remains one of the most powerful tools in the treatment of gynecologic cancer, and this webinar will help provide foundational knowledge for anyone wishing to learn more about this incredible and invaluable nursing specialty and cancer treatment.
