Description

Presenter: Associate Professor Ann Quinton: Medical sonography at CQUniversity Sydney Australia and Senior Research Sonographer at Nepean Hospital, NSW Australia.

Ann’s professional interests lie in teaching and performing research, fetal echocardiography, fetal neurosonography, obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound and educating health professionals in safe clinically focussed ultrasound techniques.

While volunteering with Radiology Across Borders in 2023 in the Solomon Islands the issue of teaching health practitioners how to scan the placenta and why, to rule out or diagnose placenta praevia, recognise risk factors for accreta and diagnose vasa praevia was appreciated.

Three learning outcomes:

1. Learn techniques to assess placental position in the second and third trimesters to diagnose placenta praevia.

2. Recognise risk factors for placenta accreta.

3. Recognise and diagnose vasa praevia.
