Description

When everything is going well, hope is not so relevant. In times of trauma and uncertainty, hope can shine its brightest light. This session will uncover the science of Hope: What is hope? What are its benefits, pitfalls, and limitations? The objective effect of hope on successful outcomes and longevity. How do we sustain hope in challenging times? And does hope even matter at this time? Dr. Oded Adomi Leshem is a Senior Research Associate at The Psychology of Intergroup Conflict and Reconciliation Lab at Hebrew University and a fellow at the Truman Research Institute for the Advancement of Peace at Hebrew University. He is also a Visiting Scholar at the Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution at George Mason University. As Positive Psychology practitioners, IPPA members will learn valuable success strategies to activate hope in order to share it with people we support in our professional and personal lives. The Sci-Why series is hosted by Lisa Honig Buksbaum, MAPP, MBA, President of IPPA's Positive Health & Wellbeing Division.
