The Canadian Arthritis Patient Alliance (CAPA) works with various groups in the arthritis community to ensure the voice of people living with arthritis is heard and to bring up-to-date information on issues that affect the arthritis community. They help Canadian people living with arthritis and their support groups understand more about their disease and have a voice in managing it.

Understanding the Pathway to Reimbursing Drugs in Canada
This is the final webinar in a three part series that explains the process in Canada from discovering a new drug to getting the drugs paid for or covered by various public and private insurance plans. This is a free learning opportunity to help patients (or people living with various health conditions) participate in government decision-making processes relating to drug approval and reimbursement policies. You will learn about: - the role of the Canada Drug Agency and health technology assessment. - the steps and role of the Patented Medicine Prices Review Board and pan-Canadian Pharmaceutical Alliance, and - how patients can get their medications paid for or reimbursed. - how patients can share their feedback and get involved in these different processes.We will be bringing together these expert speakers to speak about these topics:Dr. Matthew McDonald is the Acting Director of Pharmaceutical Policy and HTA as part of the Evidence Products and Services Business Unit at Canada’s Drug Agency (CDA). He has been involved in the launching of CDA’s non-sponsored reimbursement reviews and the Formulary Management Expert Committee.Dr. Mina Tadrous is an assistant professor at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Toronto and the Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Real-world Evidence and Pharmaceutical Policy. He works closely with policymakers and uses large data sets to answer questions about medication real-world safety and effectiveness and improving the optimal use of medications.Linda Wilhelm is the President of The Canadian Arthritis Patient Alliance and frequently participates in Health Canada expert advisory panels and conferences concerning access and drug safety issues. She is a former member of The Expert Advisory Committee for Vigilance of Health Products, the CIHR’s Drug Safety and Effectiveness Network’s steering committee and the Canadian Pain Taskforce.
