NCCEH is one of six National Collaborating Centres for Public Health funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada. We focus on impacts of the natural and built environment on health and well-being and we identify evidence-based interventions to mitigate those impacts. We create evidence-informed resources to support practitioners, policymakers, and researchers in environmental public health. We highlight and contextualize evidence-informed environmental public health resources. We identify and promote innovative approaches to environmental public health, while fostering collaboration among practitioners across Canada.

Predicting the environmental drivers of recreational water quality in Canada

Poor recreational water quality poses a risk of acute gastrointestinal illness (AGI) to beach goers engaging in water activities. In this webinar, we will discuss the environmental factors influencing beach water quality in Canada and present key findings of the project. The speakers, Dr. Johanna Sanchez and Dr. Binyam Desta, will share their research on enteric infections and the effect on health outcomes, with a focus on water, hygiene, and sanitation.
