In this webinar, curator and writer Camilla E. Brown will guide you through the process of developing a project or artist’s statement that evolves alongside your practice. With 25 years of experience in contemporary photography, Camilla will share essential tips and tools to help you find your voice, avoid common pitfalls, and write effectively about your work for online portfolios, competitions, and exhibitions

How do you develop a project or artist’s statement and keep it alive and relevant as your practice evolves? As a visual person, you may struggle to write and find your voice. This webinar will be led by curator, writer, and academic Camilla E Brown who has been writing on contemporary photography for 25 years. She has worked with photographers at various stages of their careers to help them write succinctly about their work to help present their work online, in competitions and commissions, and for exhibitions.

The webinar will look at what a good statement is and the pitfalls to avoid. It will offer tips and give you the tools to start writing on your work. Have a pen and paper ready to make the most of breaks when you will be asked to do some writing so that at the end of the session you will have made a good start on developing a language for your art.

Camilla E Brown is a curator, writer, and educator on contemporary art, specializing in photography based in Derbyshire, UK. For ten years she was Senior Curator at The Photographers’ Gallery, London previously she was Exhibitions Curator at Tate Liverpool. She is now the Programme Leader of the MA Photography focussing on issues of social justice at Middlesex University, London. Her writing on contemporary photography is regularly published in books and magazines. She also works as a mentor and consultant supporting artists and photographers with their professional development.
